Hi !
I'm Paolo and write from north of Italy. finally I find the best site for "elevage des fourmis" seriously! sorry for my bad english, but is better than my french. I have 3 queen "Camponotus herculeanus" and I'm under shock because I keep it near 70-90% . Are you shure that this queen need only 10% humidity? however their start quicly drop some eggs (12 max) but now stop it. The egg have 30 day but is only 2mm long and inside the center is yellow. What do you think about this? The eggs is dead? also: this queen need an special habitat or not? need frequenty food? help me! please! i'm really worry for all this however thanks thanks thanks for this site and his members. bye!!!! Paolo
here it's a subject for talking about the time you have to wait for having C.herculeanus workers as from eggs i guess, u have see this information on that link http://fourmis.elevage.free.fr/fiche.php?g...ece=herculeanus u keep it in ant nest?or tube? coz it's different. CITATION What do you think about this? The eggs is dead? no they are alive it's just the development who is stopped. Lots of people have this problem with this kind of species here. Like Camponotus ligniperdus. u can put ur profil in english even if everything is in French here. If u have trouble u can contact me for helping u on our website. thks for the comments (i removed ur email adress coz u can be spam a lot^^, ur msn adress is visible on ur profil link) -------------------- => email : k2rantitache "at" acideformik.com

The temperature is around 21-22°.
ok, I undersand the anti spam countermeasure. I have try make 3 situations for have more chances. 1 ant queen is in simple plastic bottle. humidity is 70-90% (I think, there is microdrops around). It was complitly whitout light. Last few day I move bottle in normal room with no direct-sun light. this queen immediatly start drop 14 egg, but last (after move?) stop it and the egg stop. 1 ant queen is in a "homemade terrarium" 20x20x30. I think was too humidity, because there is too ocondensate. The queen start drop after few day, but last abandon (start go around), and egg dead. Now I rebuild "home" with less humidity, some of but the queen don't drop egg. 1 ant queen is in a "homemade terrarium" 40x50x25. There is some zone with difference of humidity. I put in first some big pieces of bricks, left put forest land and wood. The queen choose one bad locations (on the bottom, on glas, with microdrops, humidity is 80-99% i think) and still much time. Incredible! after 2 week it drop 3 wounderfull egg really-white, and the egg grow rapidly. What do you think about? I learnin your page but I don't understand the good humidity for this ant. (moins de 10% de la surface du nid?) -------------------- Même si vous n'avez pas compris mon FRANÇAIS exactement, (S'IL VOUS PLAÎT) répondez! ok the temperature is not so good for this species. 21°C is a minimum.
Genus Camponotus species are very difficult to breed and have long development. By the way put only a queen in a big area or nest is not the good way with ants for starting. U have to start in a tube or a tube that u put in a terrarium. u can see some pic here CITATION (moins de 10% de la surface du nid?) it's for the part of ant nest who need humidity, the surface if you prefer. -------------------- => email : k2rantitache "at" acideformik.com

... ...gasp...
thanks to me you're really helping much to understand. Now you are mine recommendations to transfer the queen who has not yet made the eggs in a tube? And those who have already eggs? For the moisture mean that: 10% of the nest must be wet (ie: the part in cotton) and 90% no (ie: the tube). PS: Next time could translate directly from 'Italian to French with electronic translator, even your responses. Maybe we understand and are able to read all. What do you think about? thanks for your help. -------------------- Même si vous n'avez pas compris mon FRANÇAIS exactement, (S'IL VOUS PLAÎT) répondez! Yes it's better to start in tube for queen ants.
in a tube it's like that http://photos.fourmis.free.fr/fourmis_phot...p;chemin=_1_307 so we don't care about the %, u just need to have moisture Sì è migliore da cominciare in tubo per le formiche di regina. In un tubo è come quello http://photos.fourmis.free.fr/fourmis_phot...p;chemin=_1_307 -------------------- => email : k2rantitache "at" acideformik.com

The best way to load a picture on a forum is the hosting on a website like www.imagehotel.net. U must care about the size of the file (2 mo max). When the picture is hosted copy the link sothat it appears on a forum. U can find more informations about the hosting in this part of the forum http://www.acideformik.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3904 The correct link is the third. |

Bonjour,
